First Aid Volunteers

FIRST AIDERS who hold a minimum current certification in both Wilderness First Aidand Adult CPR/AED are needed to provide first aid support to participants and other volunteers throughout the event. Those with higher levels of training are encouraged to volunteer. We encourage EMT's and nurses to volunteer as first aiders, although we only provide basic life support (any ALS procedures will be handled by local EMS).

Please note that most of the first aid that you will provide will be foot-related; primarily, blister care. Later stations may encounter more severe illnesses such as exhaustion, hyponatremia, or rhabdomyolysis.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL first aiders are required to attend the mandatory first aid team meeting, scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in McLean, VA. If you are volunteering as a first aider, please put this date in your calendar!
